Dylan preparing to help out Popo and YeahYeah

So my parents are in a rented house for apparently 9 months to a year as their home gets completely ripped up and redone because of fire and smoke damage. Here are some images from my dad as to what the house looked like after the fire next door and one of next door.

Dylan is getting in the spirit and working on his building skills so he can try to help out with the reconstruction. Here is a video of him explaining his building and the party that is going to happen.

OK the blog is being a pain and refusing the video, maybe it is too long.

I'm headed off to Arizona again this weekend with Chris E. to do the 300km brevet. The 300 has some really pretty roads through saguaro cactus forest and coming out of the Tucson area over Gates Pass, which is a mountain biking area. Who knows, maybe we will run into Walt's friends, Eric and Natalie again, maybe Eric's fork will be painted this time...Walt.

Dylan the dare devil

Dylan and I went to Sports Systems to look for a seat post for my bike that would fit my Moots carrier and have enough setback to get my saddle where I needed. Dylan hung out trying on the downhill racing helmets while I looked at the seat posts.
After doing the Arizona 200km brevet on Linda's birthday, we went out to dinner the next evening and got sushi which we both love but has become a rare occasion since Dylan came along. Anyway we tried a new place this time, Sushi King which is in downtown. The food was pretty good and they really dressed up the caterpillar roll, though we had eaten the tail before we decided to take a picture.

From October

Here is a video I finally managed to get from Matt and Katie's camera from when we met them out at Sitting Bull Falls in October.

Stuff from the New Year

So, my parents are getting their house cleared out and cleaned. Everything needs to be dry cleaned or washed because of smoke and ash from the fire. I think that the insurance company found them a temporary home for a few months so they will no longer be stepping on my sister's families toes.

Speaking of toes, here is what happens when Dylan puts on his own shoes, at least he got them velcroed.
Here is a video of Dylan enjoying two of his favorite toys.

Rough start to the New Year

Happy New Year everyone.

After making it home from our trip to visit my parents in California for Christmas and the New Year we are now back in Albuquerque getting on with plans to replace our roof and getting things organized for our up coming trip to China.

Linda got a three month assignment in China to train the environmental staff at the Intel plant there. Should be an interesting trip, we will be right next door to North Korea, not really sure how I feel about that.

On another note, I got a call from my mom this afternoon and it seems as if the year is off to a rough start for the family. Here is a link to a Marin IJ article, you can see the west wall (or through it) of my parents house in the 4th and 5th pictures that are associated with the article. Thankfully they both got out and only one wall of the house was damaged, though with the bookshelf that was on that wall there were probably some items that will be difficult to replace if it is even possible.
